Message from the Head of School

"All I know is I've got some good news. I've got some bad news."

                                                                                 - George Strait

Am I the only one or does it feel like President Obama's inauguration was several months ago?  Covenant's recent game against Dallas Academy has surprisingly turned into an item of national and international interest.  From China to Australia to a nun in Rome, emails and phone calls have flooded into our school.  As you can imagine, people have strong opinions all across the spectrum, but none of that really matters.

Beyond all the media hype and public outrage, I want to make two things clear:

1) Covenant's Board, Administration and Faculty fully support our Varsity Girls Basketball Team.  These young ladies have worked tirelessly this season to pull a team together.  We do not believe that the lopsided nature of this now notorious game and its resulting impact are indicative of their character as players or people.  We strongly believe that the Lord has a plan for good for them and for our school.

2) As the dust begins to settle from this whole story, here's what we must remember:  Covenant exists to glorify God in all that we do.  From academics to athletics, this objective is at the core of who we are as a mission-minded educational community.  This defines not only who we are but what we do and where we are headed.

Finally, with George Strait, I've got some bad news and some good news.  First, the bad news: Covenant is an imperfect school filled with imperfect people. We sometimes miss our mission!  We need forgiveness both personally and, at times, institutionally.  We are sinners.  Second, the good news:  In our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, God has extended to us the undeserved mercy we desperately need.  We must flee to Him at such times and boast only in Christ crucified.  He is our champion.  May He alone be exalted.

As we all cling to Him, we covet your ongoing prayers as our school moves through the days and weeks ahead.

Non nobis,

Kyle Queal
Head of School

Re-Enrollment Contracts

Please note that a Tuition Contract, Parent Covenant and the Financial Aid Policy have been mailed to all Covenant families.  Because the Admissions Committee will seek to fill all openings on the roster created by those students not re-enrolling next year, it will be imperative that those seeking to re-enroll their child(ren) return the contract and deposit by this Friday, Feb. 13.  Thank you for your cooperation.
